Well, Alice has a strong dislike for the military and is also wanted for the theft of whatever she happens to get her hands on when she goes home with people, so their relationship - even as acquaintances - would be strained. Alice could quite possibly interrupt a meeting between Gene and Tim and something could happen? I'm clueless here, too, but I'm willing to make it happen. :]
